HB390 |
Relative to parties on certain election forms and ballots and Relative to the voter registration form used on the day of the general election. |
Re-refer to committee NAY |
Current law allows for multiple parties to be recognized as political parties in NH, it only makes sense that the election forms would authorize inclusion of these parties. Sections 1, 2 & 4 authorize the inclusion of additional parties on election forms. Section 3 seems to be unrelated, as it eliminates the requirement that party columns be staggered on ballots. We recommend voting AGAINST the Committee Recommendation to Re-refer, in order to hear an amendment to strike Section 3 of the bill. |
HB580 |
Regulating online fantasy sports contests. |
OTP NAY |
HB580 is less bad than an outright prohibition; however the fees are high which could serve to exclude some of the smaller businesses in the industry; and HB580 could prohibit many fantasy sports games that currently exist. HB562, which was retained by the House Ways & Means Committee, is a much better bill, in that it explicitly exempts “Online Gambling” from other gambling offenses. |
